Circuit Training...

Twenty to 30 minutes of circuit training has been shown to provide the same workout benefits as a 20 – to 30 – minute strength training session followed by a 20 – to 30 – minute aerobic training workout.

A study published in 1998 in the Journal of Applied Physiology investigated the effects of resistance training alone, aerobic training alone, and circuit training, which combines both resistance and aerobic training, on basal metabolic rate (BMR), percent body fat, muscular strength and maximal aerobic capacity after 10 weeks of training in healthy men. Resistance training alone increased BMR and strength, and aerobic training alone increased aerobic capacity and decreased body fat. The circuit-training group produced comparable benefits in all fitness variables in half the amount of time.
