FAQ'S

How often do you need to strength train, when you are trying to lose weight?

Strength training usually burns less calories than cardio training, but it increases overall muscle mass.  Muscle, unlike fat, is an active tissue, which means it burns calories!!
One pound of muscle burns 35 - 50 calories per day,so if a 130 pound woman gains 5 pounds of muscle she can expect to burn an extra 175 - 250 calories a day!!  For muscle building it is recommended that you lift weights 2 - 3 times per week, with a weight that is challenging enough to complete 8 - 12 reps with good form, for each exercise you perform.

And equipment Pilates (especially if you add small weights or the magic circle) can act as the strength training/resistance exercise.
